Volunteers (parents) are essential to the success of the Chantilly Band Program.

Cathy McCormick is the 2002-2003 Volunteer Coordinator for the Chantilly Band Boosters.

Read about the Volunteers (2002-2003) (PDF format), see who's "retiring" and offer your skills to replace our senior parents. Parents of underclassmen - particularly sophomores and freshmen - are asked to begin considering taking on the Event Coordinator positions that will become vacant in the Spring due to graduation. They include - Music Boosters President, Concession Stand, Publicity (Internal and External), Football Game and Competition Videographer, Nissan Pavilion, Concert Programs, Marching Band Camp, Shirts & Jackets, Marching Band Banquet, Jazz Festival Hospitality and Concessions and many, many more. Now is the perfect time to serve as a volunteer and learn what the Coordinator does. Contact Cathy McCormick for more info on becoming an Event Coordinator.

Want to be a volunteer? Just send us an email or complete the Volunteering Form.

Volunteer Summary

Each activity requires many volunteers. We have approximately 700 opportunities for you to help out the band!.

Students in Chantilly Band have a wonderful experience, largely because of the volunteer support that we receive. In the year (2000-2001), volunteer parents provided over 15,000 hours to band programs. That's:

Total Hours:                     15,504
Total Equivalent Days:       1,938       (8h/d)
Total Equivalent Months:    97         (20d/m)
Total Equivalent Years:      8         (12m/y)

All parents are needed to participate in at least one opportunity. Optimally we hope you are able to help several times. Each time parents participate, they show the students that their effort is worthwhile, encourages students to do their best, and validates what they are doing: besides, you meet other parents and students and best of all -- it’s fun!

The following is a list of the jobs that are necessary to operate the band program. All numbers are approximate.
