Mighty Marching Chargers Perform at Bands of America Competition

Chantilly, VA ( October 22, 2002) -- The Mighty Marching Chargers band from Chantilly High School continued to perform this season's show "Niagara Falls" with great heart and enthusiasm at the Bands of America Regional Competition held at Hofstra University in NY on Saturday, October 19.

In spite not being able to practice marching outside for two weeks, the band impressed everyone in preliminary competition, received a Superior rating from the judges and were selected to perform in the Finalist competition that same day. Band members, chaperones and directors returned home in the wee hours of Sunday morning, October 20, tired but very proud of the performances.

Founded in 1975, Bands of America is the nation's leading presenter of music events for high school band students. Bands of America's events include more than 25 events nationwide, including the Grand National Championship, National Concert Band Festival, Summer Band Symposium, 14 Regional Championships, Regional Concert Band Festivals and student leadership clinics.

The Chantilly band is directed by Keith Taylor, with Alan Johnson as Assistant Director.
