Chantilly High School Band Performs "Niagara
Falls" at Homecoming on September 27
September 16, 2002
(Chantilly, VA) The 2002 Chantilly High School "Mighty Marching Chargers" (MMC)
Band will perform its fall competition program "Niagara Falls" on September 27
during half-time of the Chantilly Homecoming football game in Chantilly. The
band is led by Drum Majors Jessica Black, Senior and Rebecca Beauchamp, Senior.
Chantilly High band alumni are invited to join the
band following the Homecoming parade for pizza and soda, and to warm-up and
march into the stadium with the band, where they will play the "Fight Song" and
"Chantilly Lace." Alumni are welcome to sit with the band during the game.
The half-time show, "Niagara Falls," by Michael
Daugherty, is a musical interpretation which captures the feeling of riding down
the Niagara River, through the
electric generators, by the haunted houses and over the Falls. The show is
filled with pulsating rhythms, bluesy riffs and haunting phrases. Keith Taylor
is Director of Bands at Chantilly and Alan Johnson is Assistant Director of
Bands.
